An Awesome, Geeky Southend Engagement Shoot
When Lilly and James first suggested the ideas for their engagement session, I wiggled about excitedly in my seat and squealed. Their idea was to take a wander around Southend-on-Sea in Essex for a typical afternoon, starting at their favourite coffee shop, Utopia, for tea and cake, then heading over to Ace Comics so James could peruse his favourites before wandering back round to Waterstones where Lil could sniff books and flip through her all time favourite series (Harry Potter, of course!). It being Southend, we couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to head down to the seafront and have an ice cream on the beach as well, before parting ways.
Utopia Coffee Lounge has become my new favourite place! It is so quirky and totally fabulous. I love all the mismatched furniture, the crazy decor and amazing hot chocolates – yum! It seemed only fitting for these two to munch on raspberry cake with little pink heart icing to start…
Moving on to James’ favourite place – Ace Comics, where he could browse the shelves and choose a few of his beloved graphic novels to take home. I loved the colours of all the comic books lined up on the shelves…
On route to Waterstones, I spied a wall (I love a wall!) and got the guys to get mushy in the street.
I must admit, when Lilly suggested stopping in at Waterstones because it was one of her favourite places, I did wonder if I was going to manage to get any photographs because I love a good wander through the fiction section! My husband will be pleased to know I managed to refrain from shopping though, as much as I wanted to….!
Finally, we headed down to the seafront, stopping at the end of the high street for some shots overlooking Adventure Island and the Ferris Wheel where these guys shared a first kiss (aaaawwww!) before buying ice creams and taking a stroll along the shore.
Seriously so much fun with this shoot and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding in just a couple of months time!
Big thanks to Utopia, Ace Comics and Waterstones for allowing us to take photographs. All made us very welcome and all well worth visiting if you’re in the area 🙂
