Privacy Policy

Commitment to your privacy

I am totally committed to making sure your privacy is protected. I will ask for some information about you, such as your name and email address in my contact form, which I will only use to contact you regarding the services you have asked about. Your information will not be shared with anyone unless you decide not to book me, in which case I’ll stick it on my home page and ask everyone to send you sad face gifs or something… KIDDING!

The boring bit…

So, in case you hadn’t guessed, this privacy policy is for this website and is served by yours truly. Err, that would be Sarah Wayte, Agassiz, BC, V0M 1A3. C’mon, I’m not gonna give you my door number here, on a public page. I’m committed to my own privacy too! My contact details, however, can be found at the foot of this page, if you have any questions.

So, what information do I collect?

I have a variety of forms I send out to you through the course of our working together, which will ask for a few personal details about yourselves. These might include:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • Your home address
  • What you like to do in your spare time (other than reading Privacy Policies!)

And what do I do with this information?

I use this information to contact you and, later, if you book me, to shoot your branding session or write for your business.

When you complete one of my forms on my website, it goes straight to my inbox. I also enter your information into my project management software (I use ClickUp) just so I can keep track of what I’ve done for you and what I need to do.

And I have a tendency to put your number in my contacts on my phone because I can never find the email I want when I need to contact you. I’ve got one of those trendy phones with automatic Face ID recognition, dontcha know? That’s it!

Your information is stored in these places for the duration of our time working together and up to 1 year afterwards, just in cases. After that, it gets wiped forever and ever, unless you contact me and book me again. And just bear in mind if it’s been more than a year you’ll likely get a “Who’s this?” response from me, so do remember to let me know who you are 🙂If you’re one of those persistent types who fills in my contact form to send me spam, needless to say, your details will go in the trash. Which is the only place that’s suitable for them.

Cookies

Mmmmm, yes please. Preferably chocolate chip with a nice cold glass of milk. Yep, I am a five-year old getting ready for nap time.

Seriously though, this website has been built on WordPress, which means it does use cookies. So, what are they? Cookies are small files which get saved to your hard drive and they work to track, save and store information about how you use my website. Basically it’s a fancy way of making your experience on my website a quick and smooth visit, without having to load up all the photos and text all over again – and boy are there a lot of photos and an awful lot of waffle. As this very page will testify. You can turn off the use of cookies in your browser settings if it’s really not your thing, but don’t blame me then if it’s reeeeeeaaaaaaallllllly slow to load…

Links to other websites

I do love a good link and include plenty to other websites right here on this one, mostly in my blog.

If you do click on one of those links and head off elsewhere (what, I’m not good enough for you?), I cannot be held responsible for what may or may not happen. Ooh, that sounds dangerous, right? You’re totally gonna click on all the links now, right? Get you, living on the edge.

But seriously, if one of those links happens to break your computer, it’s. Nothing. To. Do. With. Me. I know nothing. Although I do make every effort not to link to anything dodgy from here, honest.

Downloads

Some of you might have access to downloading images as part of your photography packages (super swish, environmentally friendly, techno whizzes mostly) in which case this will happen through the wonders and wizardry of my gallery website, Pic-Time. Pic-Time is fully GDPR compliant as of May 2018. Other than that and your pretty pictures, they don’t hold much other information about you but they assure me they won’t be using any of that information at all to contact you in any way. If they do get in touch with you and you haven’t permitted it, just let me know and I’ll go over there and kick some arses.

The only thing you’ll ever be asked to download are your very own images. I do make every effort to make sure there is nothing dodgy attached to your files but can’t promise anything so, just to be safe, run them through some antivirus software when you’ve downloaded them before opening them.

Mailing Lists and Emails

As I said before, the only emails you’ll get from me will be those that directly relate to your enquiry or booking.

It’ll be stuff like: here’s what I charge; don’t forget your booking fee; and hey, your final balance is due (in other words, give me your money!). Actually, I hate sending those emails out, there will be more about finding out about you and getting to know you a little better, I promise. Also, invoices are now sent through Quickbooks who also have your contact details but that’s just so I can send the invoice without having to write your email in every time.

For those that want it, I do have a mailing list which I use MailerLite for. I will only send those emails out to people who have signed up to the mailing list and MailerLite are on the ball with GDPR. They’ll ask you about a dozen times if you’re sure you want to sign up to this mailing list. Are you sure? Are you really, 100% absolutely and completely sure?! Hit the button, you’ll see… 😉

Social Media

As with any business, I use social media to share my work and, hopefully, generate new enquiries. So I do share a few of your images on places like Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Of course, if you really don’t want me to do this, please just let me know. I may sulk a bit because without sharing new work it’s hard to get more but hey, it’s your call and I respect that. Of course, if you decide later that I can share a few shots, then I’ll probably hug you hard and love you forever.

Affiliate Programs

Just so you know, I do occasionally share affiliate links here on my blog which means I get a few pennies if you click on them and make a purchase. But I guarantee it’ll only be for services that I actually love and use myself. The extra pennies are just a nice little by-product to let me buy more stuff that I can then tell you about! 😉

Courses, Products and Stuff

As of 2023, I do dabble in selling the odd thing here on this website. If you head to my store, you’ll see there are a couple of products there.

That’s pretty much it!

Phew, give yourselves a pat on the back for getting this far. Just a final word on your images…

As part of your terms and conditions, there is a clause that acts as a Model Release, which basically grants permission for me to take photographs of you and to share them on social media and/or my website as needed.

So yeah, all of this is just a long-winded way of saying that I am committed to being GDPR compliant as per the Data Protection Act 1998 as of 25th May 2018. As changes arise, I will do my best to keep up with them and make any changes accordingly, although my clients come first so if you’re waiting for photos or copy that won’t get in the way of you getting what you paid for. Also, when it comes to stuff like this, I have a habit of leaving it all until the last minute so I can see what everyone else has done first… there’s logic to my madness really!

THAT REALLY IS IT NOW…

If you have any questions, you can contact me either by filling in the contact form on this website or by emailing me: hello@sarahwayte.com (click on the address and it should open up straight into your mail client – fancy!). I’m not putting my address or phone number on here because, hey, privacy (and I’m a Millennial, I hate unexpected phone calls). But if you become one of my clients, you will then be privy to my address 🙂
