5 things branding photography provides

You wouldn’t be the first person to think that branding photography is just about some “pretty” headshots. It’s a common assumption. Branding photography is a relatively new genre, gaining popularity with small businesses in recent years. But, here’s the thing, it is more than just a headshot. Allow me to share the 5 things branding photography provides (other than just headshots!).

#1: Photos of more than your head and shoulders

Let’s start with the obvious. Branding photography will give you so much more than a couple of head and shoulder shots on a plain background, a la LinkedIn.

You’ll get natural backdrops and shots of you in a variety of styles and poses—full length and half-length, as well as that traditional headshot. The aim is to show your personality in your headshot rather than have it just be a “nice” photograph of you.

#2: Conveys your brand, your values and personality behind the brand

Show your brand colours through your clothing, props, and location to create a consistent look for your business. It also works by showing your personality and values through your props and some expressive posing. That’s a fancy way of saying I’ll get you looking like the absolute best version of yourself in your photographs.

Having that consistency in your images supports your brand and helps to keep you looking professional.

#3: Makes you more visible in your business

I’m a massive supporter of having you show your audience exactly who you are. Be the face and personality of your business. As a small business owner, you are your most unique selling point. So show that to the people interested in what you have to show them!

Great branding photography will show who the person behind the brand is without your photos looking all formal and corporate.

#4: Builds trust with your audience

Here’s the thing. When it comes to small businesses, people need to get to know you. They need to get to like you, and they need to trust you before they’ll consider buying from you or booking your services.

If they can see you, then that’s the first step for them being able to get to know you. Getting to know you leads to people being able to decide if they like you or not (and it’s ok if some of them don’t, remember!). And once they decide they like you, trusting you will follow.

That process won’t spark with an impersonal headshot. Great branding photography will.

#5: Show people what you do

As well as beautiful images of your gorgeous, smiling face, branding photography will give you a choice of images for a variety of different uses. Stock shots that are in keeping with your overall brand. Expressive shots of you to convey a particular feeling or sentiment – like a photograph of you reading, for example.

I can also include photographs of you at work, showing your audience what it is you do, so they can get to know you a little better. If people can get a taste of how you work, there’s a good chance they’ll be more comfortable about working with you or buying from you.

So, if you’re ready to get more than a headshot for your business, if you’re prepared to show your audience the face behind your business, you should drop me a message. I’ll be in touch to guide you through the booking process!
