“Red”, Vienna, 2018

In Vienna, just before our move to Canada, I stopped for this splash of red and the lone bike leaning against it. I’ve always been drawn to these quiet urban scenes — a bicycle waiting, a wall marked by colour and graffiti, the sense of a story paused mid-sentence. That Christmas was a liminal one, a gathering before everything shifted, and maybe that’s why this image stuck with me: ordinary, a little gritty, but layered with change.
